GAME REPORT -
A Tale of Two Halves. (Central Dauphin H.S.)
It's a good thing that there's four quarters in a football game. Central Dauphin overcame a mistake filled first half to come away with a 38-29 win over the Crusaders from Bishop McDevitt.
Both teams traded field goals in the first quarter before Central Dauphin went on top with a touchdown run by Derek Day. The Crusaders would then run off 17 unanswered points which included touchdowns by quarterback Kyle Koncar and an electrifying punt return by Mike Comasco. By that time, the score was 20-10. But Central Dauphin would not go away that easy.
Justin Shirk brought the Rams closer with a long touchdown run up the middle to make the score 20-17. The Crusaders then added another field goal by Mike Comasco (his third of the night) to make the score 23-17. Shirk would find wideout Justin Spriggs in the endzone for a score midway through the 4th quarter to make the score 23-23. CD added the extra point and took the lead for the first time with 8:34 left in the 4th quarter.
CD would not relinquish the lead as they would add additional scores by Shirk and Day, making the final score 38-29. Day finished the night with 16 carries and 227 yards. |
